Note that:

-HOMINEM (direct object, accusative singular of HOMO, 3rd.declension)= a / the  man

-AD (preposition which governs the accusative case ME) = to

-ME (accusative of the personal pronoun) = me

-DUCEBANT (3rd.person plural, imperfect indicative of DUCO, I lead) = they were leading.

As you can see, Latin word order can be different from English, for Latin  is an inflected language where syntactical relationships are indicated by the  inflectional  endings, not by the order of the words.
