Ancient Languages/English lyrics fragment translated into Latin
Expert: Maria - 10/1/2005
QuestionI was wondering if it's possible to get a translation from English to Medieval Latin of the following lyrics from an old Hewy Lewis and the News song "Back in Time." This for a novel I have been working on. If I ever get this novel ("Fertility Man") published, I would specifically mention you for your help on the acknowledgements page. I would be most grateful, since my Latin consists of vague childhood memories from Catholic Mass and three days of a college course in classical Latin(before I switched to Spanish--kept the books, though).
The lyrics are:
You don't bet your future
On one roll of the dice
Better remember
Lightning never strikes twice
Please don't drive at eight
Don't wanna be late again
So Take me away
I don't mind
But you better promise me
I'll be back in time
I gotta get back in time
Gotta get back in time
Get me back in time
AnswerSorry, there has been a typo error in a phrase (see the second-last verse).
So, this is the correct text.

Hello,
Here's the Latin translation you asked me.
“Fortunae talisque tuum
noli committere futurum.
Memento numquam
bis percutere fulmen.
Noli quaeso sero venire.
Me ergo aufer,
Nihil moror,
Sed mihi promisisti
Me rediturum esse.
Mihi retro redeundum est
Retro redire volo,
Me retro quaeso reduc.”
Best regards,
Maria
