Hello, I have a question about a latin phrase. The english version is "From the ashes I will rise". The Latin translation that I have is "De Cinis ego volo orior" And I am wondering if that is correct.
This is going to be engraved on my mothers tombstone, for her ability to overcome any obstcale. If you could help me that would be really great.

The correct Latin translation of the phrase "From the ashes I will rise" is the following:

“Ex cineribus resurgam”.

Please note that:

-From = EX (a preposition which takes the ablative case).

-The ashes= CINERIBUS (ablative plural of the noun CINIS-CINERIS).

-I will rise= RESURGAM (future of the verb RESURGERE).

As for the translation you mention, i.e. "De Cinis ego volo orior”, I’m sorry, but it is absolutely wrong as only one word is correct, i.e. the preposition DE which is equivalent to the preposition EX that I've used.
