Question
Good morning, just was wondering what "holy man" and "paladin would be in ancient Greek and Latin is, thank you.

Answer
Hello,

Here are the translation you asked me:

“Holy Man”:
LATIN: “Vir sanctissimus” or “Homo pius”.
In fact VIR /HOMO means "man", while SANCTISSIMUS / PIUS means "holy".

ANCIENT GREEK: “Haghios anthropos” or “Hosios anthropos”. In fact HAGHIOS/HOSIOS is "holy" and ANTHROPOS is "man".

“Paladin”:
LATIN: ”Defensor” or “Propugnator”
ANCIENT GREEK: “Heros”

All these nouns  either in Latin or  ancient Greek are in the nominative, of course.

Have a nice day.
Maria

Since unfortunately the system does not allow  the use of Greek alphabet & diacritic marks I  had to use the Latin transliteration of each Greek letter.
Anyway I'm writing the name of each Greek letter so that you can see these letters of Greek alphabet at the sites below.

- Haghios ( alpha with the “rough breathing”and acute accent-gamma-iota-omicron-sigma)

- Hosios ( omicron with the “rough breathing”and acute accent-sigma-iota-omicron-sigma)

-Anthropos  (alpha with the “smooth breathing” and acute accent-nu-theta-rho-omicron-pi-omicron-sigma)

-Heros (eta with the “rough breathing” and acute accent-rho-omega-sigma)

Please note that there are two forms for the letter Sigma. When written at the end of a word, it is written like a S.  Otherwise, it is written like a number 6.

Finally here are the sites where you can see how to write the Greek letters:
http://www.ibiblio.org/koine/greek/lessons/alphabet.html
http://www.greek-language.com/alphabet/

-The “rough breathing”, which indicates the presence of initial aspiration, is pronounced like an "h", and looks like a backwards comma written over a vowel. The ‘smooth breathing’ which indicates the absence of initial aspiration is not pronounced at all, and looks like a regular comma written over a vowel.
