Question
Hi Maria... this is silly, but my brain froze - girl = puella...but...how would one translate (get ready to laugh) "Fat Bottomed Girl" ...it's the boat's name - she's nearing 40, like her owner, and certainly 'owns' her name..

Thanks much
Cheers!

Answer
Hi Sara,

if you really want to give a Latin name to your sailboat, here’s the translation of “Fat Bottomed Girl":

“Opimis natibus puella”.

Note that:

-fat bottomed = OPIMIS NATIBUS which in Latin is not an adjective, but an ablative of quality composed by an adjective OPIMIS (ablative plural from OPIMUS meaning ‘fat’, agreed with NATIBUS) plus the noun NATIBUS (ablative plural of NATES, 3rd.declension, meaning “bottom”).

-girl = PUELLA(nominative)

Have a nice day and a good sailing navigation!
