Question
The saying, "If you get bit by a chained dog it's your own fault." Attributed to St. Augustine of Hippo in the early 5th century.  I need an accurate Latin translation.  I have also heard it rendered, "one who is bitten by a chained dog is a fool."

Can you assist? D

Answer
Hello,

Here are the translations you need:

1-« Si a cane morderis catenario, tua est culpa »( If you get bit by a chained dog it's your own fault).

2-« Stultus est qui a cane catenario mordetur »  (one who is bitten by a chained dog is a fool).

Best,
Maria
