Question
I am a big fan of "The Boondock Saints", and in the movie the main characters use a prayer with what I believe is a Latin ending. I was wondering if you could translate it?

The prayer ending is as follows:
"In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti"

If you could be so kind as to do my favor, it will NOT go unappreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hello,

The Latin formula "In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" means :
“In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”.

This phrase, which is called ‘trinitarian formula’ is  used in many prayers, rites, liturgies, and Catholic sacraments and it is usually recited with the Sign of the Cross gesture.

Best,
Maria
