Question
Please translate into English

Homo est quo dammodo omnia

Thanks!

Answer
Hello,

The correct quotation which is attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas  is “Homo est quodam modo omnia” as ‘quo dammodo’ is a misspelling for ‘quodam modo’ meaning “in a certain way’.

Therefore here’s the translation of this sentence:

-“In a certain way, man is everything.”

Please note that:

-HOMO= man

-EST = is

-QUODAM (ablative of the adjective ‘quidam’ agreed with MODO) = in a certain

-MODO( ablative of manner, from the noun ‘modus’) = way

-OMNIA( nominative neuter plural of ‘omnis’) = everything.

Best regards,
Maria
