Question
could you translate "to heal and relieve people´s suffering"? it´s for the "coat of arms" of the hospital that I work. thanks!

Answer
Hello Angela,

The translation of “To heal and relieve people’s suffering" is the following:

-“Sanare et aegrotorum lenire  dolores”.

Please note that:
-To heal = SANARE ( infinitive of SANO, I heal)
-and = ET
-relieve = LENIRE (infinitive of  LENIO, I relieve)
-people’s = AEGROTORUM ( genitive plural of AEGROTUS meaning “patient / sick”)
-suffering = DOLORES (accusative plural of DOLOR; Latin prefers the plural).

As you can see, Latin word order is different from English.

Merry Christmas!
