Question
i like harry potter and i was wondering because they found a new dinosaur and called it dracorex i was wondering what the two words meant in latin because i believe that is where it came from.

Answer
Hi Jamilla,

the term ‘dracorex’ is a mixture that consists of two Latin words which are ‘draco’  and ‘rex’.

In fact DRACO means ‘a  gigantic reptile,  serpent, dragon, snake’, while REX means ‘king’.

Therefore ‘dracorex’ means “Dragon King’ as it refers to a fantastic new dinosaur  in the Harry Potter series.

Have a nice day.
