Question
Hi,
Would you be so kind as translate the following sentence into English?

Nec tamen sequitur quod omnia alia a se ei sunt ignota; nam intelligendo se intelligit omnia alia

Best

Answer
Hello,

this St.Thomas Aquinas’s passage on Aristotle’s  Metaphysics can be translated literally as follows:

"However it does not follow that all those things, which are other than he himself is, are really unknown to him; in fact thinking on himself he (God, of course) knows all other things".

But it's better the translation I've already sent you yesterday and I'm writing once again:

”This however does not mean that He [i.e. God] does not know all those things which are other than He himself is; in fact thinking on himself He knows all other things”.

Hope all is clear now.
