QuestionI am reproducing this important old text (from 1829) so it can be freely (as in I intend to put it on cd and also a web site so people can have access for no charge)available to all homoeoapths. There are a few Latin paragraphs which I would like to translate. There are five small sections. I have included the first here. May i send the others? Thank you.
AnswerHello,
First of all here's the CORRECT text of the paragraph from “Organon of the rational art of healing” by Samuel Hahneman (1755-1843):
The Latin of this book which appeared in Dresden, Germany, in 1810 is very rough, as it is not classical Latin, of course.
Anyway here's its translation into English:
"The aspect of epidemic diseases causes to feel wonder since such diseases do not recur under the same form, but they differ very much, in every instance, in their course. Such a difference is quite evident as well as in many of its most striking symptoms and its whole appearance, so that each disease cannot be treated medicinally in the same way.
Therefore it's clear that epidemic diseases ( if you pay attention ) are very different among themselves and moreover so far dissimilar like a silver coin differs from the false one, although a superficial observer can believe that epidemic diseases are similar since it happens that sometimes they have the same form and symptoms, to a certain extent, at least”.
Finally as for other paragraphs, do not send me them, please, as I'm very busy. There are however some sites which provide such a service, though not free like
AllExperts.
Best,
Maria
