Question
in lateran

Answer
Hello,

I suppose you mean “in Lateran” as St. John in Lateran, familiarly called St. John Lateran, i.e. the church and palace of St. John Lateran, the cathedral church of Rome(in Italian, San Giovanni in Laterano).

This church was built by Pope Melchiades in 311 AD on land belonging to the Plauzi-Laterani family, an ancient Roman family that possessed also a palace (the Lateran palace) on or near the place where the church now stands.

In this church several ecclesiastical councils, hence called Lateran councils, have been held.

Best regards,
Maria
