Question
Hello there.  Found a quote by a Roman Philsopher called Persius.  I've searched the web for translations of the phrase, but get several different versions.  The phrase in question is 'he conquers who endures'. Translations I've found include 'is victum quisnam tolero' and 'chi la dura la vince'.

I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Thanks

Answer
Hello,

The Latin quotation from Persius, Roman satirist (34 AD - 62 AD), reads as follows:

“Vincit qui durat”

Please note that :
VINCIT= he conquers
QUI = who
DURAT= endures

As for the Latin translation « is victum quisnam tolero”, I am sorry, but it  is absolutely wrong, while the sentence “Chi la dura la vince”, it is an Italian version of Persius quote, not a translation into Latin.

Best regards,
Maria
