It is well documented that Andy Griffith and Frances Bavier didn't get along too well on the set. They had several differences over the way the show and the script should go. Frances is more of a broadway type star, specializing in upscale shows, plays, etc. Andy is a downhome country boy. So naturally the 2 clashed several times over the way things should be. These differences caused a rift between the 2 as the show continued. That's where everything stems from. Thanks for your question and have a great day!
