Andy Griffith/"chilli size" at the diner

Question
In one episode Andy and Barney mentioned getting a "chilli size" at the diner. I am from N.C. and never heard of a "chilli size" (open face hamburger covered with chilli beans) before going to California. in 1958 and I doubt that anyone in N.C. had either. Was that ever discussed? Was it a mistake? By the way I wrote Andy a letter but can't find his mail address. Could you give it to me?   Thanks-  Mike Huey

Answer
That term was written into the show just because it sounded country. The writers wanted to make the show as country and down home as possible. I don't have Andy's address. He is a very private man and I've searched the internet for his address to send him some fan mail, but cannot find it anywhere. Thanks for your question and have a great day!

I have watched the show so much that I can say most of the line before the actors do.
