Question
If you have a hernia can you ski/snowboard or go hiking? Also is it ok to drink and smoke?

Answer
Lily
The short answer is yes but you haven't given me the full info. 2 options below
Do you mean after having a hernia repaired?
If yes to this then the answer is still yes to all the above activities but only when your wound is healed and you feel able to do them. In reality it depends on where the hernia was and the type of repair but you should be able to resume full active sports within 4-6 weeks.
If you mean you have a hernia that has not been operated on then as long as it is giving you no problems and you have been doing these things anyway - then keep doing them. Many people have hernias that they live with all their lives with no problem. It is only occasionally that people get into trouble with them - usually with bigger hernias.
Hope this answers your question
