Anesthesiology/Is versed like sodium pentathol?

Question
The last time I had sodium pentathol was when I had four
teeth pulled by an oral surgeon and my heart beat really fast before I went out. Will Versed do the same thing to me?

Answer
Hi Connie
For many complex reasons it is unlikely that midazolam (versed) will have this effect. However a long time ago I learned never to say 'it won't happen'. It is an extremely 'cardiostable' (kind on the cardiovascular system) agent and so you shouldn't have any issues.
Kind regards
