Question
Hi Dr Jackson, Is being an anaesthetist very time consuming? What are the hours like? Also, I presume you have to be okay with needles, were you ever needle phobic? If so, how did you get over it to get such a fantastic career?
Thankyou!

Answer
All jobs in medicine are busy and so time consuming. I am UK based so the hours as a trainee are very controlled now to max of 48hrs per week. When I was training we did over 100hrs per week. As a consultant I still work around 48hrs per week.
No I've never been needle phobic and I've not known a colleague to have the problem.
Hope that helps a bit
