Anesthesiology/Low blood pressure dangerous?

Question
I will have an operation for an ingual (sp?) hernia in a week. I'm worried about
the anesthesia because I have low blood pressure (ca. 100-105/60-65).
Sometimes my blood pressure is so low I think I am going to pass out. Will the
anesthesia be dangerous for me? What should I ask the doctors or have them
watch for? Otherwise I am in good health, except I have GERD and
Hypothyroidism. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Cheryl
We reckon that a low blood pressure is good for you on the whole so you have nothing to worry about. Ensure that your anaesthetist knows and they will take special care of you during your op. However I have not found anaesthesia to be a problem in patients who run routinely with a low blood pressure.
Kind regards
