Question
Dr. Levy,
I about to graduate high school. I want to become an anesthesiologist, but, i don't know how to get there. I know what i have to do as far as 4 years of med school, 4 years residency, but i don't know who to get there. What classes should i take my first 2 years of school? Should i skip my general studies, and go into the nursing program and go about it that way? Should i go straight through? I am lost. I also am looking into what medical school i want to go to. I intend to do my very best and to be the best. I know i can do it, but i am kind of alone on this. Could you please help me!!!?

Answer
In college you spend the first two years taking intro courses. Make sure to take the required pre-med course (calculus, checmistry, physics, etc). Nursing is not the way to go if you want medical school but if you are interested in being a registered nurse anesthetist, you can go this way. Don't worry about which medical school now, you have plenty of time for that.
