What are some of the properties of the halogens used in the haloalkanes?  Also,  does the halogen being used in the haloalkane anesthetic have an effect on the safety of the anesthetic?

I'm not sure I understnad your question. Are you asking about the basic biochemical properties or pharmacological properties? Are you asking how do the halogenated agents cause anesthesia? What do you mean by safety? Please be a little more specific in your question.
