Question
I am planning to pursue a career as a trauma surgeon.  My question for you is if it would be possible to minor as an anesthesiologist and how many more years am i going to add to my schooling if i do so.  Also, i am currently working at a local hospital in the city i live in where i take care of post-op patients. I have been offered a position on an ambulance company as a registered EMT and was wondering which job would look better on my application to a medical school?

Answer
There are no majors and minors in medicine as it is not like a college. You first finish college, then finish medical school and then you specialize. In your case you will do 5 years of surgery and an additional 1-2 years of trauma sub-specialty, for a total of 13-15 yrs of training after high school. Both jobs look fine on your application.
