Question
Greetings
Peace be upon you,

What level separates conscious sedation, deep sedation and general anaesthesia in terms clinical signs andd vital parameters?

Answer
In the UK I would suggest the following
Conscious sedation - you can maintain contact with the patient and they can respond appropriately e.g. squeeze my hand.
Deep sedation - beyond this level of responding appropriately but still respond to painful stimulus e.g. withdraw hand from pain.
General anaesthesia - no movement response on painful stimulus.

The separation between deep sedation and general anaesthesia is a fine line!
