Question
Hello,  My son who has had a 3.9 average in his freshman year of high school, and is now interested in the anesthesiology field.

What courses should he be taking now in his sophomore year to prepare him for college?

He is currently taking honors Biology and English.

What is your opinion on Duke University in North Carolina?

Thank you for any help you may provide for us.

Answer
He should continue to take science and math courses and if he has the opportunity to take AP classes, even better. I suggest AP classes because it should give him an idea of the workload exepected at the college level and also give him a better idea if this is what he really wants. He should also try to volunteer at a local hospital. Duke has an excellent reputation but I don't know any specifics about the college.
