Question Hi, I am interested in becoming an anesthesiologist. I am currently at a community college getting my pre reqs for nursing, though I'm wondering if I have to become a nurse to become an anesthesiologist or not. If not what classes should I be taking? My school offers a nursing program but not an anesthesiology one. What should I be majoring in?
Answer You do not need to be a nurse to be an anesthesiologist, you need to be a physician. You need to take the pre-reqs for medical school, then finish med school and then apply to anesthesia programs. You can major in anything you want.
