Question
I had an epidural a year ago when I had my baby( natural delivery) I had it at 5 am and I gave birth at 8 am ,they took the epidural out at 3 pm because I complained that something was bothering me in my back, they told me they were very busy with c-section that day, she showed me the end and was intact.
Since I give birth I have sciatic nerve pain, in my lower back and the hole right leg,it's very painfully and getting worst every day, I have no insurance to see a doctor and it's very frustrating to me ,I wish i can walk one day without pain.the cool n heat patch and excedrine helps a little bit
I want to know if my pain could be relate to the epidural, and  what specialist I should see for help later..thank you Dr Levy for your time....iris

Answer
It certainly could be due to the epidural but it also could be due to the delivery. When the baby's head comes down through the birth canal it can put pressure on the pelvic nerves. This is more likely (if you didn't have problems with the epidural while it was in). In either case, you should be seen by a neurologist or orthopedic or neurosurgeon to evaluate your current pain. You need to make sure there us no other reason for it. If you can't afford to go to a doctor, go to an emergency room or a free clinic for evaluation.
