hello,
Months ago now I had antibiotics called Cefimixe. I went to my Immunologist today regarding sinus problems which they are reluctant to operate on me again because they do not know where the infections are comming from altough there is a huge belive that a infection got in during the operation last year and I have been suffering with a constand cold since then my question is does Velosef Syrup 250MG/5ML (Cefradine) does it contain Penicillin as I am starting to feel really sickie and it has already upset my stomack as I am allergic to Penicillin What should I do Thank you for helping, I am becomming increasly worried

Answer
Cefixime (which I believe is the first drug you had) is a 3rd generation cefalosporin. Cefradine is a 1st generation cephalosporin (I don't think either is available in the U.S.). All cephalosporins have a 10 - 15% cross-reactivity with penicillin. So if you are having a reaction, you should probably see your doctor and have him switch your medicines.
