Anesthesiology/Bad headaches after anesthesia

Question
I, too, have had significant headaches following a short stay procedure. I received Propafol and Fentanyl. The headache started the evening after the procedure and has occurred daily, since. I have had frequent headaches over the past 8 years. The intensity after surgery is intense. Thank you for you answer. Deb

Answer
Hi Deb
This is a strange one but I wonder if you have a migraine type headache which is then aggravated somehow by anaesthesia. The other alternative is that you have an 'analgesic linked' headache syndrome which is made worse by the intraoperative analgesics you have been given. This type of headache seems to be perpetuated by the analgesics people take to try and manage it.
Sorry I can't diagnose only give some suggestions.
Kind regards
