Anesthesiology/recovery weeks after general anesthesia

Question
Hi. I had total knee replacement on January 28, so I am 2 days from the 3
week mark. I had general anesthesia. I am still tired. I ama 65 year old
woman. My
surgeon just prescribed 325 mg iron 2 times per day, because my
hemoglobin was a little low. How long does it usually take to feel like my
regular self in terms of energy level?
Second question. They ask me if I want general or local anesthesia at the last
minute without giving me any literature to read. That is not right. Why do
they do that/ The 2nd question is rehtorical to some extent. Thanks

Answer
Hi Emily
It can take a considerable time for you to feel back to normal - especially if you are a bit anaemic after the operation. Once your anaemia is sorted then you should feel better so maybe around the 6 week mark.
I agree with your last point. It is wrong and shouldn't happen that way.
Kind regards
