Question
Dear Dr. Starkman,

I am 26 yrs old with 45  college credits that include Biology,English,Psychology,Hematology,as well as many other courses..
I am currently a Surgical Technologist and have been so for less than a year... I would love some advice on how i can take steps ASAP, to become an Anesthesiologist..I have been told that since Nursing and Surgical Technology are practically related in the OR, that i should get my BSN then apply to medical school... Please help

Sincerely,
Poinsettia

Answer
If you're a surgical tech, you have access to anesthesiologists at work----talk to them to get their opinions and viewpoints as well.  I believe your best step forward is to review the admission requirements of several medical schools to which you might like to apply for admission to see, indeed, if they're for you.  Then fulfill those prerequisites and apply.  You should get a copy of "Getting Into Med School" by Sanford J Brown.....read it for excellent insight into what lies ahead.
