Question
Hi I am due to have laprascopic adhelysosis (spelling)on 9th Sept, I am a bit apprehensive as I had the same surgery done 2yrs ago and surgeon told me adhesions were extensive and it took him over hour and half to operate, my main fear is the pain when I wake up. The pain last time on awaking was worse than what it was when i had my hysterectomy, what kind of pain  relief should I be given, and is it normal to do this surgery as a day case, last time it was a day case but i stayed in overnight.  The surgeon also used Adept barrier solution have you heard of any good results with this.  Many thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi there
This surgery is often performed as a day case but the amount of discomfort felt can be very variable. You should be made comfortable after the operation but we often find mobilising i.e. getting up and moving about helps. Let your anaesthetist know about the problems you had the last time and they should be able to help you using a combinations of drugs both orally and intravenously. I have no experience with the solution you mention as none of my surgical colleagues use it.
I wish you all the best.
