Anesthesiology/sedative

Question
I have huge anxiety about getting an endoscopy. Someone suggested to me that I ask for a mild sedative/anti-anxiety med before the procedure. They use propofol for the procedure, would a sedative immediately prior to that cause problems?  Thanks

Answer
Generally they give you both a sedative and Propofol for the procedure. They will give this to you the morning of the procedure but if you are so anxious the night before, you can ask them if they can prescribe something for that night, but don't take anything without your doctor's prior knowledge and approval.
