Anesthesiology/swelling and pain

I went to thw er 3 days ago. they put an iv in my hand. there is a lot of swelling and pain. if you push on the swelling. it leaves a dent in that spot. The swelling is now moving up the arm to the wrist and forarm. What should i do.

It sounds like the IV infiltrated which normally would go away by itself but if it's moving up your arm, it's probably an infection (as opposed to cellulitis) and should be seen by a physician. If you can't get to your regular physician, go to the ER.
