Thanks for the helpful answer; I scheduled an unsedated exam after being told that the doc does them unsedated upon request...then on the day of the exam a crna tries to insist that I sign a sedation consent which I decline! I couldn't understand why the crna kept badgering me to sign the consent; after we left my wife spoke with the GI doc who was totally honest and apologetic...we agreed with good reason to do your case unsedated but due it was scheduled in error with a nurse/crna and she insisted on the consent so that she would get paid even though she would not be involved in my case...The doc encouraged my wife to reschedule with a promise not to have an anesthetist nurse involved.......Perhaps I'm unsophisticated, but I was dumb enough to think that nurses such as the crna participating in my case  were concerned about my safety not their paycheck......I have to explain to my wife and to my PCP why I won't return for an exam despite being high-risk and now have an understandable mistrust of anesthesia care.  Thanks for your answer.
