Anesthesiology/Age

Question
Dr. Levy,
Is there an age of which you may consider it not to be forthcoming to become an anesthesiologist? I would consider that your response would be based on the average age of those completing the program.

Answer
That is a personal decision. We don't have an age limit (my roommate in medical school was 43). You need to consider that from starting college it is 12 years until you are in practice. The average graduate of anesthesia residency is around 30.
