Question
Im going to have lower jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery) can I choose what kind of anesthesia I want.

Answer
Hi Mike
You can (and should) discuss the type of anaesthesia needed with your anaesthetist. However the choices may be fairly limited due to the type of surgery you are having. Depending on what they are doing to your jaw it may not be possible to offer a local anaesthetic alternative and you may have to have a general anaesthetic.
Hope this helps
