Question
I experienced a chronic cough since Oct. 2006 and Dr. was unable to pin point problem, then I had outpatient surgery for Stress Urinary Incontinence-Obtryx Sling System and after surgery the chronic cough was gone. Did the general anesthesiology possibly cause this good affect? Will cough come back?

Answer
Hi Diana
It is very possible that this improvement is due to the general anaesthetic itself or even maybe due to pressure on the tissues around your throat from the airway device used by the anaesthetist.
However I cannot say that your cough will not come back though the longer you manage without it the more likely it is that it won't.
Kind regards
