Anesthesiology/Epidural with heart block?

Question
Dr Jackson,
I recently read that epidurals are not recommended with a heart block.  Is there any truth to this?
I am pregnant with a complete congenital heart block (Asymptomatic) so I don't (yet) have a pacemaker. I have had 2 previous births, one with epidural, one without.
It is looking likely that I will have to have a cesarian section due to placenta previa.  Although, I am still hopeful not to have to go this route.
Do you have any thoughts/advice?
Thanks
Sally Anne

Heart block is not an absolute contra indication, one does however have to be careful about the epidural and manage it wisely. As you have had one successfully previously it sounds like your anaesthetist looked after you well. Your anaesthetic team should advise you - ask to see them during your pregnancy so they know about you and can go through the alternatives with you.
I wish you all the best with your delivery.
