Anesthesiology/MD, DO

Question
Hello.
I was wondering what the DO stands for after MD?
After the Doctor's name.

Thanks.

Answer
Ususally you are an MD or a DO. Do in this case stands for doctor of osteopathy. I don't know anyone who is both because they are basically the same. Usually after a doctor's name is his board certification. So, for example, a surgeon might be "John Smith, MD, FACS" or Fellow of the Americal College of Surgeons.

I hope this answers your question.
