Question
Could an epideral be used as the pain killer and a sedative used to control panic?  If so, specifically, what medications?(for an emergency inguinal hernia repair)  We are in a backwater area.  Surgical expertise is limited.

Answer
Your question is vague. Why do the case under an epidural. The problem is not surgical expertise but anesthesia expertise. Yes you can use an epidural for a hernia and sedatives will control anxiety in the short term.
