Question
My husband is 68 and will have a prostate seed implant in several weeks. His doctor said he will be asleep. My husband takes several medications for high blood pressure, plus levothyroxine and flomax, He will be taking levaquin  also when he goes in for the seed implant.  What kind of anesthetic do you think they will give him to put him to sleep?  Thank you

Answer
They could give him any of 4 or 5 different anesthetics. They would probably use Propofol and Fentanyl with inhalational gases or they could use Etomidate/Fentanyl/Gases. It is purely up to the anesthesiologist based on the medical history, procedure, etc.
