Anesthesiology/Are you a dr?

Question
Is being a anesthesiologist the same as a Dr.

Answer
Samantha
In the UK we train for 5 years to become a Doctor and then specialise in anaesthesia which takes us another 6-7 years.
So yes we are Doctors.
However in many countries they also have nurse anaesthetists or technician anaesthetists who have not done a medical degree as part of their training. Their training is usually 2-3 years only.
I hope this helps
