Question
I recently had surgery and after surgery, i felt nausea. I heard it was called Post operative nausea and vomiting. Can you please tell me why PONV happens, as the biochemical/ physiological causes of PONV

Thank you

Answer
The limbic system of the brain controls our nausea and vomitting center but no one knows why it affects some and not others. There are several medicines we can give that reduce the incidence of PONV and you should let you anesthesiologist know this if you should need surgery in the future.
