Question
Hi my name is Brandee I would like to know what the beginning salary for anesthesiologists is, also the maximum salary, and how often they can expect a raise or promotion.

Thank you,
Brandee

Answer
All salaries, raises and promotions are variable depending on where you work. It is not like in a business where you rise from mailroom to chairman. In general, starting salaries range from $150,000 to over $400,000 and there is no max but resonably, most people max out in the 400-600K range (although a large percentage maxes out at 300K)

As far as promotions, if you are not in academics, it doesn't have any meaning. In academics, you can expect to wait 5-7 years to get from Assistant to Associate Professor and another 3-5 years to get to full professor.

Hope this helps,
