Question
Last week I had a sympathetic nerve block done to take care of some pain I had in my knee from a fusion in a joint in my foot. the bone graft came from my knee. The pain management doctor had some suspisions of RSD. Anyway, right after the block was done I had suvior pain in my groin area, the doctor said he didn,t know why? It hurt so bad I could'nt pick my leg up off the table. The next day the pain was gone. Now my groin pain is back along with pain in my lower back, back of my leg and knee. I told the doctor and I felt like he brushed me off. I am in alot of pain and don't know how to get his attention. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this or should I get a second opinion?

Answer
Hi there
I have to admit that chronic pain management is not one of my areas of expertise. It is unclear to me where you had your injection for the treatment of what has been diagnosed a reflex sympathetic dystrophy. However it is peculiar that your discomfort started just after the injection. I cannot really comment further without more information. However I would suggest either seeing the doctor again or seeking a second opinion if the pain is continuing to be a problem.
Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
Best of luck
