Question
Hi my name is Nico and i'm in middle school. I am doing a project on animal testing and research and i was just wondering what rights the animals have. Anything you say could help. Thanks

Answer
Well the rights animals possess vary greatly by what kind of animal and what they are being used for. In the united states a pet dog is reasonably protected in most states but there are generally little to no laws provided to protect a chicken destined to become meat. As far as animal testing goes those animals have 0 rights at all and people can do  nearly whatever they want to them including burning them alive, Dropping irritating chemicals in their eyes and anything else they can claim will benefit people. There are a few cases of abuse in animal research labs that have been punished because they weren't part of research such as a case where employees punched a beagle puppy in the face several times and were caught on video though these cases are few and far between. In general animals used for testing do not have a single right to well being and are considered nothing more then a tool to be used and disposed of.
