Question
QUESTION: okay... I'm doing a research paper and would like to know some of the affects of animal abuse or how the animal will act after it was abused... thank you!

ANSWER: Hi Melinda,

Could you be more specific?  What type of animals?  Almost every animal on the planet is abused, minus personal domestic animals, and they even get abused all to frequently.

And.... let me summarize by saying every animal is an individual, just as human animals.  One will shy away from humans/others, the next be as trusting as if nothing ever happened.  It totally depends on the species, and personality.  There isn't a general answer for this type of question.

Thanks!

QUESTION: Okay... what if it was like common animals that are abused. like dogs, cats, and animals like that... does that help at all? thank you so much for helping me with this

Answer
Hi Melinda,

Common animals, I think you mean domesticated animals.... dogs, cats, etc., are abused on a wide scale and even tested on and tortured regularly.

Again, I can't specify the absolute affects because every animal, even domesticated are individuals.  Not one will act the same as the other.  I'm not sure what you want to know.... I can say, some dogs cower, some forgive immediately.  Some cats hide, others forget and forgive.  Some live and some die.  Depends on the intensity of abuse....

Good, or actually excellent example is the Michael Vick pit bull's that he used as a fighter.  One of them was so badly abused, he lost one of his legs, but the people who rescued him (I think it was Best Friends Sanctuary) use him to brighten the day of  sick children in the hospital.  That dog found deep compassion for some reason.... most likely because he went through such hell, he actually felt relieved at the fact that his life was better?  There isn't a great way to tell, as like I said, all animals have their own ways of dealing with it.

This is too wide a range of question for me to be specific.  Sorry!
