Animal Rights/Neighbors dog poops in my yard

Question
My Neighbor opens his front door, throws a ball down the street so his Labrador retriever dog goes and fetches it, then he immediately shuts the dog.  The dog then poops not only on my yard but other neighbors as well.  I live in an association.  What are my rights and what can I do to stop this from happening.

Answer
Hi Betsy,

My first suggestion is to talk to your neighbor.  If that doesn't work, then there are groups close by that can help, or give suggestions - I'm not up on laws about dogs, sorry.

Two great groups, depending on which state you are in are:

ASPCA - http://www.aspca.org/
Or The Humane Society - http://www.hsus.org/

Either one of these groups, would be able to answer the legal aspect of this issue.

That's not very nice of your neighbor, to do that to a dog and it may be viewed as inhumane, or even cruel.  Might ask these groups this as well.  They will definitely know better than I about these issues.

Good luck!
