Animal Rights/Our Animals

Question
I'm sorry to impose such a daunting question, I merely would appreciate your P.O.V in My situation, perhaps you can make sense of all this.

I am an avid animal lover. Like most, I love domesticated pets such as cats, dogs, birds, rabbits etc.
I also admire and enjoy "cattle" and "livestock" which we eat.
I'm not sickened by this fact until I reach a tendon or bone. It then beats Me upon the head that I just ate another living beings flesh. :-( I'm able to console Myself with saying they are meant for food and they have no consciousness and what-not. I seriously freak out when I reach those parts of meat. I feel terrible, even as a kid I did.
Later, I though of joining PETA. But heard atrophies about them such as euthanizing animals just because they didn't want the animal to become a "humans slave", and extremist actions such as attacking fur-wearers with paint, and that fish etc ought not to be consumed either.

I believe that the woodlands and forests of out Western "civilization" will not support our greed and anti-conscientiousness. Our species is more than exploitative of other species of life when unchecked, cruel at times.
My Fierce beliefs:
1. Recycling (as much as possible!)
2. Kindness and tolerance towards animals.
3. Preservation of tree's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
4. Urban development that implements the natural surroundings.
5. Loving care and preservation of our domesticated animals.
6. Chicken is tasty, but creeps Me out. I think that is all Americans held a live chicken in their arms once, they'd reconsider their palettes too.

When I eat meat products, I think about the animal torture and their pain. It inhibits Me from enjoying a rare steak.
It reminds Me of life, pain, death.
I want to do something in My state of Georgia (U.S) to actively help reduce animal suffering and abuse. I'm really confused. Have been for years.

Answer
Hi Amanda,

Thanks for contacting me!  What you are experiencing is what I like to call 'an awakening'.  It is the time that realization sets in that what you are eating, lived, breathed, had children and a mother, and is a sentient being, that should not be killed for mere pleasure of palate.  We can live healthier, morally correct lives on a plant based diet, without eating the flesh of another animal.

When you watch the following video, you will confirm that your feelings have merit.  The fact that so many billions of animals die in horrific ways each year is probably affecting you emotionally, spiritually and sub-consciously.  It is horribly wrong.

Please see:  http://www.meat.org/video-2.asp

It will explain why humans have taken the wrong road with regard to animals, who are voiceless, and need our compassion.

Thanks, and I would love to hear back from you - congrats on all of your other 'conscious' beliefs!  You're on your way to being a more compassionate soul!

I can answer almost all questions about animals raised for food... and the horrifying truths of the abuse and torture these animals endure. Also, about the health ramifications of eating animals or their products, i.e. heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and a host of other diseases linked to our diets. Any questions on existing on a plant based diet, solely, raw diet and the health benefits.
